Message from the Superintendent
January 3, 2022
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday and new year. I want to thank you for all of your continued collaboration and support throughout this pandemic. We are doing everything in our power to keep school safely open and provide the best educational experience for our students.
As parents, having a consistent schedule for work and school is extremely important to the overall success of a family. I am writing to you at this time because of the increased concerns related to the Omicron COVID-19 variant. It is very important to me for you to know as parents that a consistent school schedule moving forward may be very difficult to maintain. Due to safety concerns and possible staffing issues on top of future snow and ice weather, school closures may happen without a great deal of time to set up a plan of action.
As we continue to navigate together through the next couple of months, please consider putting together your plan of action (child care/employment) in an effort to minimize any additional future stress. If a transition to virtual learning occurs in the future, our goal will be to transition back to in-person instruction as soon as safely possible.
I am sending this letter at this time as a proactive measure due to the increased number of positive COVID-19 cases. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at (570) 434-2180 or at melia@mvsd.net.
Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael S. Elia
