To Our Mountain View School Community and Visiting Guests,
Welcome to the Mountain View School District located in beautiful Kingsley, Pennsylvania, “Home of the Eagles”. My name is Michael S. Elia and I have been the Superintendent of our school district over the last four years. With over 25 successful years working in the Pennsylvania public school system and starting my 5th year as Superintendent, my diverse experiences have allowed me to take the best of what I know and what I have seen and apply it to the students and community of Mountain View. Additionally, as Superintendent, in collaboration with our Board of Education, we ensure that our district will continue to hire the best qualified and motivated administrators, teachers, and support staff. Our administrators, teachers, and support staff must have a strong work ethic, clearly understand the district vision and goals, and work collaboratively to do what is best for our kids.
The U.S. News & World Report ranks Mountain View School District among the 2024 Best High Schools in the country. Below is the official statement:
Washington, D.C. – June 6, 2024 – Mountain View Junior/Senior High School has been ranked No. 128 in the State among the 2024 Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings evaluate nearly 18,000 schools at the national, state and local level.
While we are very excited and encouraged about these results, we will not rest or become complacent about our current successes. We are laser focused, as a district, to always have a progressive growth mindset where we are willing to adjust, change, listen, reflect, and actively respond to the needs of our parents, students, and community. Our Mountain View community always has a voice!
Over the next two years as a district, our district goals will include: improving and refining our positive school climate at both schools, using current educational data to identify educational gaps so instruction can be more targeted, updating our Pre K-12 curriculum scope and sequence, and empowering all parents/guardians, teachers and students to learn and confidently navigate our new Naviance career program.
We are very excited and are looking forward to working with you and your children over the next two years on these goals. Please feel free to reach out by email or phone anytime with any thoughts, suggestions and/or questions to the Superintendent’s office at melia@mvsd.net or at 570-434-2180.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael S. Elia
