Your tomorrow, we form today.
Sitting atop the rolling hills of the Endless Mountains, Mountain View Elementary is located along State Route 106 between Kingsley and Lenox, PA. Built in 1991, our school consolidated three elementary schools from Brooklyn, Clifford, and Harford, PA. Artifacts from the three former schools decorate our lobby. We ring original school bells at the end of fire drills. We are steeped in tradition.
Currently, we have 483 students in Grades Pre-K through sixth grades. Average class size is 22. Students of all grades have access to modern technology in the classrooms and in our three computer labs. Title I services are available to students in Grades K-5 in Reading and in Math. Teachers implement Hybrid Learning, where each student’s needs and strengthens may be met through an individual or small group setting. We are a small rural school that offers music, art, physical education/health, computer, and library science during the school day.
One principal, 38 regular education teachers, 6 special education teachers, one school nurse, one school counselor, one at-risk counselor, a school psychology, 14 paraprofessionals, and five clerical staff members serve our students daily. Mountain View Elementary also has a Community/School Behavior Based Health program with Scranton Counseling to serve the needs of our students.
After school we offer students the opportunities for lessons in string instruments through Marywood University, intramurals in softball, basketball, and volleyball (grades 5-6), after-school tutoring, grade level plays, and music lessons for band and chimettes. Each grade level continues to organize field trips to local farms, museums, and historical society. Sixth grade travels to Washington, D.C. for four days/three nights!
